In June we started a 44 day, 3,800 mile RV adventure that would take us to Seattle, Glacier National Park, Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Salt Lake City!

We went from near sea level to as high as 12,200 feet above (8,200 in the RV), temperatures in the 40’s to the high 90’s, and the most beautiful vistas our country has to offer.

In fact, many times we felt we were living the song America the Beautiful, complete with purple mountains majesty and amber waves of grain! We are very blessed to live in a county with such an abundance of natural beauty!

For the most part, we made it though without any mechanical problems! There was the lightening storm in Billings where a fuse blew on a telephone pole next to us, and almost put a hole in our roof, but that’s a story for later. 🙂
This will be the first of 5 posts about the trip, and I’m really excited to share it with you.
We started the trip driving north on I-5 out of the San Francisco Bay Area. We were really heartened to see so much water in Shasta Lake and so much snow on Mount Shasta!

We stopped in Medford on the way to Seattle and were greeted with this amazing sunset.

After shopping at the Harry and David outlet there for awesome fresh fruit, and another stop in Portland for dinner with my cousin Rachelle, we made it to the Seattle area and Lake Pleasant RV Park.

We love staying on the lake and the many visits from the ducks and geese that live there. It can get messy, so be prepared to clear your site daily of all the “presents” they leave behind. Still worth it.

We make time while there for lots of bike rides and plenty of family time.

Our purpose for visiting this year was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Deb’s brother Chuck and his wife Peggy. They are two of my favorite people in the world.
Here they are from 50 years ago!

Since then, they grew a wonderful family.

We all had a great time at the celebration, but soon it was time to head east towards the Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park!
Al & Deb

Looks like you had a great time and adventure. We have done similar over the years going from coast to coast west and east north and south Canada and Mexico.
Thanks, Mel. Sounds like good times! We really were living the dream. 🙂
