Ventura’s Rincon Parkway was our home for almost a week, and one of our favorite stops on this RV Trip. We usually visit with some friends in the area, but since it was at the end of a long trip and during the week of Easter, we decided to just relax and basically do nothing.

We spend lots of time just looking at the ocean!
Rincon Parkway provides you an ocean front RV site with beautiful views 24/7.

From your RV, you may see dolphins or orcas swim by, see pelicans diving for fish, little birds scurrying to avoid the waves, surfers, hang gliders, paddle boarders, and people just walking their dog on the beach.

Honestly, we never tire of the view or being here to relax and take it all in. But our favorite time is during sunset. Small changes in the weather can make each sunset very different from day to day. Better be there at dusk to enjoy each one!

But the Rincon Parkway is not for everyone! The 127 sites are on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), nose to tail. Each site is 44 feet long and there are no hookups (no electricity, water, or sewer). It can also get windy at times.

A train track is just on the other side of PCH, primarily for Amtrak, and Highway 101 is just up the hill past the train tracks. These noises go away during the night, and during the day they fade into the background as the natural ocean sounds make the perfect white noise machine for us. We wake each morning relaxed and ready to start the day!
From your space, you can ride your bike in either direction. South to Ventura, and north to Carpinteria.

Just south is Rincon Beach, a favorite spot for the surfers.

Just north is Shoals Restaurant, a favorite of ours. We love eating outside on a table in the grass.

It always makes us feel like we have been transported to Hawaii for the day!

We always visit Santa Barbara when staying here. It’s a beautiful drive there and an iconic part of Southern California. Stearns Wharf is a favorite for the pier and views of the city.

A stroll along the boardwalk to the marina makes for a nice walk…

…or into the city for some ice cream. Or both!

Going the other direction towards Ventura and Oxnard, we visited the Museum of Ventura County. We loved the exhibit that traced a murder mystery over water rights in the area. It was definitely the Wild West for a time.

We also visited the Ventura Marina for lunch at Brophy Brothers. Good fish!

A little further south took us down memory lane and all the great times we had at Oxnard beaches while growing up.

One of our favorites was Silver Strand Beach. I love seeing Anacapa Island and Santa Cruz Island in the background. The waves were pretty high the day we visited. When I was a kid, I remember sleeping on the beach just north of here waiting for the grunion run! Good times!

And no trip to Oxnard is complete without a visit to the farm stand for some genuine Oxnard strawberries. Yum!

We had a great time on the Rincon Parkway, but it was time to be heading home. We’ll be back again next year, as we are no stranger to the area. Here’s are some posts of our previous trips to the area. In fact, we’ve visited so many times, this may be our last post about Rincon Parkway. Just know we plan to visit for many more years!
On the way home, we stopped a few days in Paso Robles, with a day trip to Cambria. After over a month on the road, it felt really good to be home awhile. However, we were already looking forward to our next long trip north to Seattle.

Great Write Up. Wish we were there, but our Rving days are just about over except maybe for a little camping and fishing.

Thanks Mel! Itβs a great place! I know your RVing has slowed but hope you get some good fishing and camping in when you can.
We used to be able to just head on down and find a spot. But no more since they went to reservation system. Many sites are too rocky for us older folks to traverse or without any access at all. Would love to be able to reserve the ones that could work for us! Which spots do you feel are premium, with easy access to the beach?
Great comment! I like the ones closest to Faria Park, say 118-127. From these sites, it is a short walk to the park, which has easy access to the beach. Just go down at low tide and you will be able to have a nice beach walk. An added bonus is the cafe there. They have great coffee and breakfast burritos! I have breakfast there at least once every trip.
Thank you! Love your commentaries and recommendations π!
Thanks, Sandy!
