Palm Springs (157)

We moved to the Palm Springs area for the last leg of our trip. We spent a week in Indio with some family and friends.

Here we are at the Shields Date Gardens where we had a delicious lunch, and a stroll through the gardens. Of course we went back a couple times for a date shake, too!

We love walking in the desert.

Sometimes, we’ll see a road runner looking for a meal. This one let us get quite close.

While we were at Indian Waters RV Resort, we had the RV washed and waxed. They also cleaned and treated the roof.

I think they did a pretty good job! And notice all the snow in the mountains behind us!

While in the area, we all took the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to the top of Mount San Jacinto. As we ascended the mountain, it felt like you were somehow falling upwards!

After awhile, we entered the clouds and our view was gone. It was a little eerie.

But it was a winter wonderland at the top. You can see the snow flurries in this photo.

Thanks to Phil and Debbie, we also got some nice souvenir photos from the trip!

After freezing at the top of the mountain, we warmed ourselves the next day at the Living Desert Museum.

My favorite animals were the giraffes,

but there were all kinds of desert animals there. It’s a really nice zoo and gardens.

I also appreciated the well placed rockers about half way through the park.

The week went by so quickly, and we enjoyed visiting with Mike and Sandy, and getting to know Phil and Debbie. Phil is an expert wood turning artist, and Debbie is an accomplished portrait artist. Phil is also an RV nerd, like I am, so we really enjoyed discussing our various projects and all things RV. 🙂

On the last night, there was an amazing sunset. People were stopping in the street to watch the dramatic sky. There’s a big RV blocking part of the view, for some reason, but trust me, it was epic.

A great end to a great week.
