The weekend before Christmas, we took a short trip to Seacliff State Beach. It’s the beach famous for the sunken concrete ship at the end of the pier. You can read more about that here.
On previous trips to New Brighton State Beach, we had walked past Seacliff, a little envious of all the RVs parked right on the beach, so we made plans to visit as soon as possible, and we were very glad we did. The weather was beautiful, warmer than usual, and very clear…what visitors come expecting to see during the summer instead of all the cold and fog. Let’s keep it our secret that the best time to visit the central and norther California coast is in the fall! 🙂

In the morning we took a long walk along the beach into the town of Capitola and headed to Pizza my Heart for some delicious pizza that we ate at the beach while enjoying the great day. Capitols Beach is a great place to relax and enjoy a sunny day. We enjoy watching the surfers and walking along the pier.

In the after noon, we headed to our favorite place for coffee, Mr. Toots Coffeehouse. It’s an old school coffeehouse that’s a great place to get away from the crowd and hang out a bit. Here’s the cinnamon mocha latte, with fresh whipped cream scooped on top…you really should try this!

Since it was close to Christmas, many of the campers had their motorhomes decked out for Christmas, complete with lights and decorated trees. Everyone was in good cheer and we enjoyed strolling along the walkway looking at the creative decorations. We even brought a few decorations to help contribute to the Christmas spirit (Debbie really thinks of everything!).

What a great way to spend the weekend before Christmas. Now we are looking forward to visiting the Pismo coast in February!
