Our first stop on Washington’s Cascade Loop was in Grandy Creek, a beautiful pine-filled area. We stayed at the Grandy Creek KOA. True to it’s name, Grandy Creek runs right through it.

We liked the large sites, which is nice for family get togethers.

One of our sites had a blackberry bush in it. Also note the pole for WiFi, which was pretty good in the park.

The weather was great, so we ate meals outside so we could stay socially distanced.

The Cascade Trail passes in front of the park. The trail runs along the Skagit River from Sedro-Woolley to Concrete, over 20 miles. It’s a beautiful, if somewhat bumpy ride. Hopefully they will pave the trail someday, but it’s still worth the ride,

One of my rides on the trail was to Hurn Field, an elk preserve. I’m sure the elk were everywhere when I visited, except in the field…maybe next time!

The next day we drove towards Mount Baker to the Shadow of the Sentinels Trail.

It’s a beautiful 1 1/2 mile walk in an old growth forest.

After a great time visiting with family, it was time to leave for the next destination on the Cascade Loop, in Winthrop, WA.
