Oregon Coast – Newport (132)

On our drive up the Oregon Coast, we stopped in Newport for a few nights at the Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort. Most of the lots are large and beautifully landscaped, as you see here.

In our case, we also had a partial view of the lighthouse from our motorhome!

The Yaquina Head Lighthouse is one of my favorites! On our last trip here we visited the lighthouse and were fortunate to see a whale feeding nearby. Very cool!

For this trip, since we were on our way to Washington and didn’t plan to stay very long, we spent more time on the beach. There was a very low tide and we were able to explore much further out than usual. Normally, like the map shows, we would be swimming rather than walking!

The low tide enabled Debbie to explore the rocks and tide pools, which she loves to do.

So many starfish!

As usual, the lighthouse looks picturesque, standing watch over the sea.

All that beach combing works up an apetite, so we headed over to the South Beach Fish Market for their famous fish and chips.

It’s a hole in the wall place, but the service is good and the food is great.

A trip to Newport, for me, is not complete without the delicious marion berry pie at Chalet Restaurant and Bakery. This can be addictive, so proceed with caution.

Our time in Newport was much too short. You can read about our last trip here for additional things to do, but we can’t wait to get back! Now, off to Washington!
